Lara van der Beek

We tend as a society to want bigger, faster and more all the time, but tranquility and minimalism are just as important. Sometimes less is more and the message comes across better without all the extra bells and whistles. This applies both to art and to people themselves. In my projects, I want to show people that quiet introverts do not have to transform into exuberant extroverts, through quiet and minimalist sculptures.

Relation to the Expo

We tend as a society to want bigger, faster and more all the time, but tranquility and minimalism are just as important. Sometimes less is more and the message comes across better without all the extra bells and whistles.

This applies both to art and to people themselves. In my projects, I want to show people that quiet introverts do not have to transform into exuberant extroverts, through quiet and minimalist sculptures.

About my work

My artworks delve into thmes that are deeply personal and universally significant - mental healh, identity , and self-love

My ambition as a visual artist is to take the viewer into my experiential world and by doing so show them a new perspective. By doing so, I want to open conversations about the themes of my work, such as mental health and identity.

About me

As a visual artist, I make minimalistic photographic sculptures, aiming to create a profound connection and interaction between my work and the viewer. The merging of photography and sculpture allows me to transcend traditional boundaries of photography and explore new dimensions of visual storytelling.

From different angles and distances, new dimensions and revelations emerge, inviting the viewer to explore and engage with the piece on a deeper level. My artworks delve into themes that are deeply personal and universally significant - mental health, identity, and self-love.

Through my work, I invite viewers to reflect, to delve into their own narratives, and to find solace and inspiration in the shared human experience. Ultimately, my artistic mission is to spark meaningful dialogues and forge connections between the artwork and the viewer. I believe that art has the power to evoke emotions, challenge perspectives, and ignite change.
